Mission Foods Announced as New Title Sponsor for NHRA’s Premier Professional Series

Fan-favorite company adds sponsorship to its already impressive roster of racers, races and raceways.

IRVING, Texas — Oct. 25, 2023 — Mission Foods, the world’s leading brand for tortillas and wraps, will become the title sponsor of the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) premier professional series, now known as the Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series, beginning in 2024.

Mission Foods and the NHRA first partnered to launch the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge earlier this year. The program introduced competitive racing to the Saturday schedule at regular season NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events, pitting semifinalists from the previous race in all professional categories against one another in a rematch for bonus money and championship points.

“This is a huge opportunity for us to keep connecting with fans while supporting motorsports in a major way,” said Juan Gonzalez, Mission Foods Chief Executive Officer. “There’s nothing better than race weekend, and we are proud that Mission Foods will become the official title sponsor of the NHRA Drag Racing Series.”

Mission Foods will have a significant presence at all NHRA national events and on Fox Sports’ NHRA’s television coverage. Mission Foods will also receive considerable exposure via NHRA’s subscription live streaming service (NHRA.tv) and on NHRA’s social channels and platforms. And even tastier – Mission Foods will be the official tortillas, wraps, flatbreads and tortilla chips of the series.

“We have heard from drivers and fans how much they appreciate Mission being involved with NHRA,” said Sathish Mohanraju, Mission Foods Vice President of Marketing & Trade Marketing. “A lot of drivers have thanked us for the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, which has changed the face of weekend racing. NHRA racing fans are extremely brand loyal, and we’ve long felt that our sponsorships are positively driving sales and brand awareness.”

“Mission Foods has already shown such great passion for NHRA drag racing and giving back to racers, and to now have them become our new entitlement sponsor is an incredibly exciting moment for the NHRA and our race teams,” NHRA President Glen Cromwell said. “They were a tremendous partner last year, introducing the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge that changed the landscape of our race weekends, and we’re thrilled to see that relationship continue to grow on an even bigger level.”
Mission first began its motorsports sponsorships four years ago, and its involvement continues to grow. Today, the company sponsors teams and individual racers across the NHRA, NTT INDYCAR series, American Flat Track (AFT), and MotoAmerica. Mission is also a sponsorship partner for the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), IGT and Trans-Am, as well as the title sponsor of the American Flat Track SuperTwins series, King of the Baggers, Super Hooligan National Championship and Mini Cup by Motul series in MotoAmerica.

Mission Foods Announces Winner Of Indianapolis 500 Trip To Support Arrow McLaren SP

Mission Foods, the world’s leading brand for tortillas and wraps, is excited to announce the winner of an all-expense-paid trip to this Sunday’s Indianapolis 500. Racing fan Taylor Ness and a guest will be given the chance to cheer on Pato O’Ward, Felix Rosenqvist, and Juan Pablo Montoya from McLaren team hospitality at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Mission Foods is a proud partner of Arrow McLaren SP.

Ness was selected in a drawing among other winners of Mission Foods’ https://www.missionfoods.com/2fast2tasty/. Throughout the 2021 INDYCAR season, and before each racing event, Mission Foods invited social media followers on Facebook and Twitter to comment on posts for a chance to win a Mission Fan Pack following the event.

At the end of the season, Mission Fan Pack winners were invited to a Zoom call with Arrow McLaren SP, Mission Foods and driver Pato O’Ward to take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Arrow McLaren SP team garage. On the call, Ness was announced as the winner.

“It was very cool,” Ness said. “I was speechless. The moderator on the Zoom said, ‘Say something,’ but I simply could not. I’ve always been a fan of McLaren and INDYCAR is the best form of motorsport in the world.”

“We are pleased to provide a fan with an Indy 500 experience for the second year in a row,” said Juan Gonzalez, Mission Foods Chief Executive Officer. “Mission Foods is proud to bring motorsports and fans together, just like our delicious products bringing people together around the table. For Taylor and his father, I hope this will be an unforgettable moment.”

Ness and his father, who is his chosen guest, not only won two tickets to the Indy 500, but also a ride with a driver in the INDYCAR Two-Seater Experience. The winnings also include paid airfare, lodging and a $500 gift card for meals and other expenses during their trip.

Ness said that racing has been a lifelong passion for him. “I have been into things with wheels ever since I think I knew what they were,” he said.  “What kid doesn’t love going fast?”

He said he raced go-karts as a child but found the most joy in working on race cars and going to the track with his family. His parents were major supporters of his racing enthusiasm.

“We went to Watkins Glen INDYCAR racing a lot because it was close to where I grew up,” Ness said. “I knew my dad was the right person to take to the Indy 500 because of our history of going to races together.”

In addition to being an INDYCAR race fan, Ness is also a fan of Mission Foods. “I go out of my way to buy their tortilla strips,” he said. “They’re so, so good.”

Ness said he hopes to eat plenty of Mission Foods’ limited edition Racing Style Tortilla Chips, which are made in the shape of racecars and motorcycles and available at Mission Foods-sponsored racing events. “I wish I could buy the racecar chips at the store, but having them at the racetrack makes them special,” he said.

Ness and his father will be flying out on Thursday morning. “We don’t want to miss anything,” he said. “I’m so excited to go and support the team. They’ve got a good chance to win on Sunday.”

Mission Foods to Send One Lucky IndyCar Fan on a Trip of a Lifetime

May 27, 2021 01:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time

IRVING, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mission Foods, the world’s leading brand for tortillas and wraps and a proud supporter of motorsports, is thrilled to give a lucky Mission Foods and IndyCar fan an all-expense-paid trip to this weekend’s Indianapolis 500 IndyCar race. Mario Gomez and his guest will watch the race from the McLaren Gasoline Alley Hospitality Suite. Mission Foods is a proud partner of the Arrow McLaren SP IndyCar racing team.

“I’m most excited to hear the sound of the engines roaring. It is a choir of sounds that makes your stomach shake and that fills the air with such a unique sound”

Gomez won the trip in a drawing from winners of Mission Foods’ #2Fast2Tasty campaign during last year’s season. Every week during the 2020 season, Mission surprised fans with #2Fast#2Tasty Fan Packs on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. At the end of the season, winners were invited to a Zoom call with special guest IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward to take a behind-the-scenes tour of a working IndyCar garage. O’Ward — Gomez’s favorite driver — surprised him by announcing him as the drawing winner.

“I was speechless,” Gomez said. “I wanted to start screaming and dancing with joy, but because Pato was on the screen, I had to compose myself and try to look professional.”

In addition to tickets to The Brickyard, Gomez and his guest will receive Mission- and Arrow McLaren-branded premium swag as part of their Mission Foods Indy 500 VIP Experience.

“I’m most excited to hear the sound of the engines roaring. It is a choir of sounds that makes your stomach shake and that fills the air with such a unique sound,” added Gomez.

Gomez first became a fan racing in 1987 when his grandfather gave him a diecast Lotus 98T with Ayrton Senna’s name on it for his seventh birthday. When Senna moved to the McLaren team in 1988, so did Gomez’s allegiance. “The moment I heard McLaren was returning full time to Indy Racing, I became a fan of Arrow McLaren SP,” he said. “As soon as team apparel came out, I bought a shirt to show my support.” He is also a huge Mission Foods fan, especially enjoying the Carb Balance Tortilla line and the Thin and Crispy chips.

“We have been supporting motorsports for a long time at Mission Foods, but this is our first time surprising a fan with an experience like this,” said Juan Gonzalez, president and chief executive officer of Mission Foods. “For Mission to be able to connect our fans with the sport we love through delicious food gives us a lot of pride. I’m so excited for Mario and Jordan and can’t wait to catch up with them in the McLaren suite!”

“I have to thank Mission Foods and the Arrow McLaren SP team for this incredible opportunity,” said Gomez. “From the prize pack to the exclusive Zoom call and now the Indy 500, I know that Arrow McLaren SP and Mission Foods truly care about us, the fans. Those of us who find joy and excitement watching races, who for a couple of hours every week can forget about COVID and other world problems and enjoy pure racing and good food.”

Vance & Hines Signs on Mission Foods as Partner for NHRA Pro Stock Team

Vance & Hines announced today that the NHRA’s winningest female, Angelle Sampey, will ride the company’s new four-valve Suzuki-powered race bike in the 2021 NHRA Camping World series. The team’s quest for the championship in 2021 is a partnership between Vance & Hines and global food producer Mission Foods.

A three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle (PSM) champion, Sampey’s 43 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle wins make her the NHRA’s top female athlete. She has the fourth most wins in NHRA PSM history.  In 2019 and 2020 Sampey was a member of Vance & Hines’ Harley-Davidson-sponsored team.

Sampey will be among the first to ride the recently announced Vance & Hines four-valve Suzuki-powered machine. The new engine features a modernized top-end which provides increased valve lift and reduced mass in the valve train. The 1850cc motor delivers nearly 400 horsepower and will be paired with a custom chassis developed using data from thousands of runs in NHRA competition.

“I’m so excited to be part of the Vance & Hines team again this year,” said Sampey.  “This is a first class company that gives me the best bikes I’ve ever ridden. I’m feeling really good about what we can accomplish together this year. “

“We’re happy to be working with Angelle once again,” said Vance & Hines President & CEO, Mike Kennedy. “Vance & Hines is in a wonderful position right now. We’ve got one of the top riders in the sport aboard our outstanding new equipment and we have Mission Foods as our new Team Partner. I couldn’t have hoped for anything better as we go into the 2021 season.”

Multi-billion-dollar company Mission Foods, the world’s largest manufacturer of best-selling tortillas and wraps, joins the effort as a sponsor of the new team. The food giant shows its passion for motorsports with sponsorships in IndyCar, AFT and GT3 racing and now enjoys relationships with both Arrow McLaren SP and Vance & Hines.

“Terry Vance and I have talked about putting together a race team, and I was overjoyed to get his invitation to work with Angelle and the Vance & Hines crew,” said Juan Gonzalez, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mission Foods. “NHRA has a great tradition and loyal fan base, we can’t wait to see our brand and products at this year’s NHRA races.”

The team will feature the brilliant yellow and red Mission Foods logo on the race bikes, rider, crew and the team transporter at all scheduled Pro Stock Motorcycle events for the 2021 season.  The NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle season starts in mid-March at the Gator Nationals in Gainesville FL.
